ABOUT KITTY KREW

Kitty Krew is a passionate e-network of volunteers dedicated to supporting animal rescues in northern New Jersey and beyond. Our mission is to help raise funds, promote animal rescue and adoption, and enhance communication between rescues and the public. Thanks to the support of our community, Kitty Krew has already raised over $200 for cat shelters in the past!
While our primary focus is supporting animal rescues, our vision extends beyond that. We celebrate diversity and uphold values of kindness, respect, and active engagement, and we stand against things like clique bullying, objectification, exclusion, classism, and persecution for simply being yourself. We believe in strength through unity—together, we are more than just a network; we are LIONS—strong, elegant, graceful, and loving.
Any rescue can send us memos or volunteer requests to be disseminated to our network members via email. If you're a shelter, we invite you to contact us to be featured on our site.
Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of our furry friends and our communities!

OUR HISTORY

This organization was born from a desire to mobilize fellow Pompton Lakes High School students to support local cat rescue efforts in a creative and engaging way amidst a socially complex school environment.

To achieve this, Shadow Tail co-initiated Kitty Krew, an innovative “underground” social club, with the help of Silver Whiskers, creating a professional website and recruiting members through informative flyers, a regular hand-delivered newsletter, and an eye-catching cat-oriented costume theme. Our members collected donations for local animal rescues from students and staff as well as held a number of in-person volunteering events with those rescues. Kitty Krew built a sizable network of volunteers, eventually appointing executive members and delegating responsibilities to those executives in order to ensure effective management of member information as well as encourage active participation from our member base.  These efforts resulted in our organization gaining significant attention, with the costume theme and social buzz exploding into a school-wide phenomenon that invigorated and mobilized students and teachers alike. All of this was achieved over an academic year period, entirely independently from any school administrative intervention or influence. The project later led to paid positions for our members at the local BASS Animal Rescue.

Our movement eventually evolved into a dedicated volunteer e-network available to be called upon to further contribute to local animal rescue efforts, which still operates to this day.

This project exemplifies our executive members' natural entrepreneurial spirit, robust leadership aptitude, strength in cooperation, effective delegation, value of community engagement, devotion to animal welfare, and ability to inspire passionate collective action.
